Breaking Into the Big Leagues: A Micro-Company’s Journey to Becoming a Preferred Supplier

Navigating the process to be recognised on a preferred supplier list in the education sector has been an exciting yet challenging experience for our micro-company. Competing against established players with vast resources can feel overwhelming, but it’s also given us the opportunity to prove our adaptability, creativity, and value. With each step—whether gathering detailed information or refining our submission—this process has pushed us to innovate and carve out a niche. While the competition is fierce, this journey is a critical step towards securing our first major breakthrough. Being part of such a rigorous process not only tests our capabilities but reinforces our belief that smaller companies can bring fresh perspectives and tailored solutions, even in highly competitive industries.

I am looking forward to supporting the business to grow by helping out on a potential project with architects and interior designers to possibly design houses in the public sector. I am looking to shadow their work and am learning on the go with an interior design course I am doing whilst publishing on Instagram some of the things I am practising. Although it can be daunting at first to branch out to bigger companies I think it would be of great benefit to gain some experience and expose our micro-company to bigger players out there.
